Tsangsar Tulku Rinpoche

Tsangsar Tulku Rinpoche was born in 197​5​. After finishing a three-year retreat, which he began at age 13, h​​e took on the responsibility of Retreat Master at the seat of his father and ancestors at Tsangsar Lha Lam Osel Ling.

At the age of 17, ​Rinpoche received full ordination from Venerable Dil Yag Dabzang Rinpoche, and at the age of 18​ he​ was recognized ​by His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche ​as the fourth incarnation of Ngag Gy​ud ​Dh​argye Gyatso,​ who was a student of Situ Pema Nyiche​. ​

Tsangsar Tulku Rinpoche spent several years studying and practicing at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery, the heart of our lineage’s activity, and has more recently has helped preside over several drubchens at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling.

Rinpoche has received numerous empowerments, transmissions and oral instructions from many great masters, particularly from His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, Khenchen Pema Tsewang, and Mingyur Rinpoche, among others. Rinpoche currently lives in Oakland, and travels to teach and support the Dharma around the world.

The Buddhist Studies Summer Program (BSSP) is an intensive residential study and practice program. Mahamudra Practice Retreat with Tsangsar Tulku Rinpoche August 2024

We warmly welcome you to participate in this special retreat, led by Tsangsar Tulku Rinpoche, which will serve as the capstone practice retreat of Gomde California’s 2023 Buddhist Studies Summer Program. This practice retreat is recommended for those who have received Mahamudra or Dzogchen instructions from a qualified lama, however it will also support those who have received and are practicing foundational calm-abiding (shamatha) instructions. Work Week August 2024

This year we are hosting a special Work Week in preparation for a busy summer of seminars and retreats. In particular, we invite our sangha members to join us in developing and beautifying the land for our 21stAnniversary celebration and teachings with Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche. We’ll be hanging prayer flags, painting the Lama House, building benches and tables, gardening, laying stone along the paths, hanging lanterns in the campgrounds, constructing a communal tent, and engaging in a whole host of preparatory activities.
