Residential Volunteers
Residential volunteer positions at Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California offer a unique opportunity to combine practice, study, and service to the flourishing of the Dharma in the West. This summer, we especially welcome volunteers who can assist in the areas of Land & Garden Crew, Digital Archiving, and Facilities Maintenance.
Commitment and Terms
Residential volunteer positions are for a four week term, from July 5th to August 2nd. Residential volunteers perform 25 hours a week of volunteer service, following a time schedule for the tasks assigned to them. All residential volunteers receive free room and board. Each volunteer will sleep in one of our campground’s tent cabins, receive free vegetarian meals, and may attend Gomde California’s daily practices and occasional programs, as their responsibilities allow.
Community Life
Residential volunteers at Gomde California join the center’s community life by participating in the spiritual life of the land. They are encouraged to practice in our two daily meditation sessions (morning meditation at 8:00 am & evening offering practice at 6:00 pm). They may also participate in any other programs offered during their stay.
Residential volunteers share meals with Gomde California’s resident lamas and staff members, and they meet Tibetan Buddhist teachers who often spend time on the land to teach or engage in retreat. When there is a weekend teaching or a longer retreat, they meet program guests who come from other parts of the U.S. or other countries to learn about Tibetan Buddhism.
